Coronavirus: Town Hall

I want to thank everyone who took time on Wednesday, April 15th to meet with Dr. Elaine Chin, Dr. Jimmy Gutman, Dr. Eric Goodman, Donovan Bailey and I during our Coronavirus: Virtually Getting Through This Together town hall. It was encouraging to see so many individuals join in our serious discussions about important issues facing us all during these unusual times. We are also grateful for your thoughtful questions and hope we were able to resolve those queries and perhaps offer some new insight.

We discussed with Dr. Jimmy Gutman and Dr. Elaine Chin the Coronavirus: what it is; where it comes from; how we get it, and; how it affects our respiratory and immune systems. Dr. Goodman explained the importance of respiration and the value of positive behaviours and attitude. Donovan Bailey, a man whose experiences are difficult for most of us to relate to, was relatable in his down-to-earth way of defining how training helped him get through difficult moments.

We included mental health in our discussion – highlighting signs to look for in ourselves and those we care for. Dr. Goodman was eloquent in discussing the importance of “a decedent amount of sleep, a decent amount of exercise” in ways that while optimistic, also realistic and doable.

Below, you can listen to and download the audio portions of the town hall. Please feel free to share these links.
